Marea, the new subsea internet cable up to 160 terabits per second

Microsoft, in partnership with Facebook and Telxius, has developed and completed a 4,000-mile-long subsea cable.

With an average depth of 11.000 feet, this cable links Virginia Beach, Virginia – USA – with Bilbao, Spain.

There are other amazing things. First of all this cable was laying in just two years, even if industry standard is three years longer.

But the astonishing fact is another: Marea provides up to 160 terabits per second, ensuring less network gridlock and a faster data traffic between the United States and Europe.

Another step forward in the digital world.
